Red + Leopard

Zara jacket similar/ Thrift dress/ Target booties

This is the outfit I was thinking of when I put together this polyvore set. I really like how it turned out, I couldn't get better photos, because we were in a rush and it was freezing outside! (I have a few others on instagram here)

So how was everyone's Christmas?! Did you get what you wished for?! I didn't get what was on my wishlist, BUT I did get something better. A new SLR camera (Canon Rebel T3i) and a tripod! I mentioned to Josh that I want a better camera a while ago and he remembered. I wasn't expecting it so I was SO surprised! These were taken with the old camera I've been playing around with it all day, I really like the blurred background photos.. I just haven't figured out how to take them yet! lol If you have any tips I would love to know.

  1. yay for new awesome cameras!! and the outfit looks freaking awesome!.

Here are my tips for blurred background photos:
    - it has to do with the f-stop. You will have to change your "dial" setting to AV, which allows you to adjust the f-stop. You'll want to reduce it to the LOWEST it can go (mine does 3.5 I think). The lower the f-stop, the more blurry the background.
    - What you will notice, though, is that the farther away the subject in the photograph is, the less blurry the background will be. If the picture is just of your upper body, for example, it will be blurrier than if it's your whole body. Does that make sense?
    - To get the full effect of the blur, most people change their lens to one that allows you to go up to an f-stop of 1.8 .. but these lenses are about $100 bucks.

... Sorry for the book! But this is what I've learned by trial and error using my canon rebel t2i :)

  4. Gorgeous outfit! Perfect for Christmas.

And exciting about your new camera! Depth also helps get blurry backgrounds. Stand in a more open area so that objects right behind you won't be in focus.
